CFBX Platform for Ebok Field OML 67 – Shipment from the US to Nigeria

Description

Offshore Platform wet tow over Atlantic Ocean from Gulf of Mexico to offshore Nigeria.

Task

The Cargo skidded / moved from the fabrication position up to the end of the Loadout quay held awaiting confirmation from all parties (including MWS) that weather forecasts are acceptable, all measures are in place and the approval is given for the operation to proceed. The cargo lifted by Heavy Lift Vessel gears from quayside to deck in lift/swing/drop motion. Marine Warranty Surveyor checked and authorised all hook-ups before and after any lifting operation. All sea fastening and lashing operations performed and checked by and signed off by Marine Warranty Surveyor and Heavy Lift Vessel super cargo representative. The barge returned to seaworthy condition with all tank lids (and penetrations where applicable) being reinstated for tow over the Atlantic. From fabricator quay Ingleside, USA to Ebok field is approx. 6194 nautical miles. WELL arranged offshore clearance / midstream discharge permit (in advance of discharge operations) of cargo as well as Temporary importation of the barge and towing vessels, for the duration of the offshore installation in OML 67. Hence reducing overall project schedule by about 30 days and saving costs to the customer. Overall project schedule reduced to 140 days instead of estimated 170 days. High precision handling, loading, lifting and rigging operations; towing over Atlantic ocean required having contingency plans in place for all eventualities starting from weather conditions to equipment reliability; off-shore clearance and midstream discharge involved liaison with various and multiple authorities in Nigeria. The cargo was delivered on time and on budget without any incidents and was handed over to customer at off-shore drilling site.
